How I Met Your Step-Mother

A lot of people have expressed negative reactions to the season finale of How I Met Your Mother that aired yesterday. Honestly, I was pretty ticked off with the people who said that it was a waste of nine years of their lives… excuse you? Do you honestly believe that if you found out nine years ago that Ted finally found his soulmate but unfortunately she succumbed to an unknown sickness, that Robin and Barney got divorced after three years of being unhappily married to one another (at least they tried right?), that Barney had a daughter that changed his life forever, that Lily and Marshall’s lives could never be more perfect, and that Ted and Robin ended up together, would you still not have watched those nine years of craziness, adventure, heartache, and laughter?

Don’t get me wrong, I loved the mother. Yes, as a fangirl myself, I would understand why people got upset that they killed her off and that the writers made Ted and Robin get back together. It is because they built her character up so much, as well as her relationship with Ted. The two had so many similarities and amazing moments as a couple. They also had so many moments before they met wherein they almost crossed paths, which makes us really believe that they were meant to be together. But they didn’t meet just yet, not until after the love of Ted’s life got married. I believe it’s because he couldn’t meet his soulmate yet when he was still in love with Robin.

That’s how destiny works. There’s always a place and time for everything and for Ted, he needed to let go of Robin so that he could allow himself to truly fall in love with another girl again. Unfortunately, you don’t always live happily ever after with your soulmate. It’s true that one day, you’ll cross paths with them but they don’t always stay in our lives. The truth about soulmates is that they could be anyone; a friend, a neighbor, an enemy, or a partner, and that it doesn’t always have to last forever. I believe this finale conflicted many people because it was a battle between Ted’s soulmate versus the love of his life. Remember in the episode of “How I Met Your Dad” wherein Cindy asked the mother ‘what comes after the one?’ The next one. Why can’t the same go for Ted? And coincidentally, Ted’s the one also passed away, just like the mother’s.

Also, don’t tell me you didn’t see that coming. There’s Lily and Marshall’s bet in 7×17 wherein Lily told Marshall to pay up but he said ‘not yet’. There are the drawings of the kids going to the zoo and the beach with their Aunt Robin (activities you would oftentimes go with your parents right?) giving me the notion that the mother was not present anymore. And there’s the obvious – Ted and the search for Robin’s locket. People said that they destroyed Ted’s character that after he let Robin go, he went back to her. That’s not him being weak. That’s him getting back out there (six years according to the children) and fighting for another chance at happiness – another chance to fall in love again. The mother was a great girl and from what she seemed, I wouldn’t think she’d be selfish not to allow Ted to be happy again. They made the most out of every moment they spent together and nothing can take that away from them.

Again, don’t get me wrong. I was also confused how Robin and Barney just woke up one day and realized they weren’t happy anymore despite showing each other how much they loved each other during their wedding weekend. It’s really hard for a leopard to change it’s spots. Barney thought he was done with the life of one-night-stands after he married Robin, but he still went back to it after they got divorced. Why weren’t people reacting about that too, on how he also went back to his old ways? Remember that all it takes is for just one person to come into our lives that could change us completely. For Barney, that was his daughter. For Ted, it has always been Robin. She has given him more heartbreaks and happiness than all the girls he dated combined, but love is so unexpected and irrational. From the beginning, it has always been Robin. Even when he was with the mother, he still loved Robin, just not in that way anymore. But feelings fleet away and feelings come back, and that’s something we can’t hold against anyone.

So everybody who got mad about the finale, calm down. If you didn’t like that ending, I hope you’ll be contented with this one. No one can always please everyone but damn, think about the series as a whole and not just the pieces in the end. I love this series and I will never forget everything it has taught me. Need more persuasion? Well, Thought Catalog has some points to make as well.

Love Song By The Cure, Sung By Candice Glover on AI12

With all honesty, I haven’t been staying tuned to American Idol Season 12, maybe because it started while I still had school and because I haven’t been hearing any good feedback from it anywhere. But yesterday, while my family and I were having lunch in the South with some family friends, I overheard this and it instantly gave my chills. I went over to the television and pumped up the volume and couldn’t stop saying OH MY GOD the entire time. I had no idea what came over me but yep, I was so impressed with this performance. Maybe I’ll start watching AI12 just because of this single performance. What did you guys think?

AWKWARD. Series 3 Coming Up

Yey!!! It actually took less than a year this time which is super cool! TBH, I’m getting really frustrated with how Jenna can’t stick to one guy for more than a school year, I mean, come on. Anyway, here’s the promo for series 3 which will premiere on Tuesday/Wednesday!

It’s All Fun And Games Until There’s Intuition In The Crocodile

Okay, so the title really doesn’t make any sense, but it seems like these days, everything is going a little bit crazy. For one, IT’S MY SEMESTRAL BREAK! Finally! I’ve been waiting for it since the start of the year! Tee hee! To start it off, I had a day/night out with my group of friends in college by hitting the mall to watch a movie and go window shopping, then later at night, we went food tripping in Mercato. I also got a henna there! Then from Monday-Tuesday, the org in which I belong too and I went to Fontana in Pampanga. Updates (slash rants) are constantly found in my twitter. Anyway, enough about me (well, one of these days. Hehe) Let’s move on to the promos for next week! I can’t wait!!!

Silver having to choose between Liam and Navid is really getting on my nerves. Navid was the clear choice but she broke his heart and now he’s a douche. Great. Liam on the other hand has become some sort of criminal; burning buildings to the ground and pushing people to the ground. What is up with that? I’m pretty sure Vanessa is still alive because you can’t kill a devil, especially if you’ve made a deal with it. Annie needs to straighten Liam out because let’s face it, they’re the perfect couple. Well, next to Naomi and Max. Which reminds me, Max needs to get a haircut asap or else I’m thinking that he became gay in college and hooked up with his business partner (whose name I can’t remember bec. he’s so damn irrelevant) I honestly think that Adrianna should get it back on with Taylor bec. damn, he’s super fine. Dixon was a real tool and he became a bigger one after the accident. I can honestly say that I was ready for him to die. WTF happened?! He should stop complaining and be thankful he’s alive bec. the three other guys he was with didn’t survive. Just work harder at the physical therapy center. Oh and Teddy, please don’t leave. 90210 is so awesome but the characters are so damn stupid. I guess that’s what I like about it. Woks.

Once Upon A Time

The whole parent-child scenes really moved me. I cried so much with Charming and mother, Snow and Emma (especially when Snow was looking at the room and reminisced about how it looked before), and Jefferson and Grace (especially them). Cue in my best friend Kleenex. It was such a good episode! And look at the promo for next week! Captain Hook is so damn flawless OHEM.

Wake Me Up When September

…starts airing my favorite shows!!! Some of my highly anticipated shows are returning in late September and on October. Since I’ve been super M.I.A. at blogging and focused more of my attention on college, my friends and tv series are keeping me sane. I haven’t even shopped in forever and the last movie I watched was The Bourne Legacy (yikes that was forever ago). At least, I can still say that I “have a life” bec. of these shows! Yehey!!! Sembreak is coming up so be prepared for bombarding blog posts and I will drown myself in relaxation and marathons. Wee! Super sorry for being absent the past month. I promise to keep updating in October!!! Tee hee. Thank you still for those who drop by everyday. I really appreciate it 🙂
